Liner Notes:

Rolf Schubert in english, as printed in booklet:
Listening eventually to a tune of Louis Armstrong or a song of Ella Fitzgerald, within ten seconds you‘ll realize: This is Louis, this is Ella. Their voices are unique.
And then you hear Karen Carroll. Within ten seconds you realize, this is an unique voice with an unique sound, this is Karen Carroll!
No matter whether she sings the blues, a jazz tune or a ballad - Karen Carroll got her own thing. And that‘s what jazz and blues is all about: nothing ready-made, but voicing your own creativity.

Born in Chicago, Karen had the best schooling a singer could obtain: Beeing a child in southside Chicago and worshiping in the black baptist community every sunday. Plainly, anybody who has attended such ceremony and did not realize: This is the root of black music, is lost, beyond help, a square.
And there was of course her mom, Jeanne Carroll, swingin‘ with Count Basie and Little Brother Montgomery.

For a couple of years now Karen Carroll is living in Europe looking for like-minded musicians. And here they are: swingin‘ as relaxed and easy as can be.

My compliments to Stefan, Christian and Dieter. And to Karen Carroll for this recording and for avoiding all the boaring clichés - there is jazz and blues and Louis Armstrong and I love Karens‘s version of Ray Charles' tune „Hallelujah I Just Love Her So“.
